NJ For Health Care Campaign Launches New Website Bringing New Jersey Up-To-Date Information on All Things Health Care

www.njforhealthcare.org

Highland Park, NJ — Today, Friday, October 10th, the NJ For Health Care Campaign launched a new website — www.NJFORHEALTHCARE.org — which will provide New Jerseyans with comprehensive information and resources on health care reform efforts at the state and national level, up-to-date news articles and press releases, a story-bank for New Jerseyans to share personal accounts of insurance company horror stories, opportunities to take action and the ability for both individuals and organizations to join the NJ For Health Care Campaign in working to make high quality, affordable health care a reality for all hard-working NJ families.

The website contains information on the NJ Main Street Alliance, a new initiative launched in August 2008 giving powerful voice to the thousands of NJ business owners tired of having their businesses dictated by growing insurance premium costs or the inability to provide health care for themselves or their employees.

Additionally consumers will find information on the proposed conversion of Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of NJ from a nonprofit to a for-profit health insurance company, NJ's Prescription Drug Price Registry, and the NJ FamilyCare and FamilyCare Advantage Programs.

"We know what it will take to bring guaranteed access to quality, affordable health care to residents of our state," said Eve Weissman, Health Care Campaign Coordinator for NJ Citizen Action, "we all must come together and demand it. This new website will provide New Jersey residents with a go-to resource for critical information on health care issues facing NJ and the nation. New Jerseyans will be able to join together in a powerful way and make their voices heard."

The NJ For Health Care Campaign is made up of a broad-based alliance of over 40 health care, consumer, labor, senior, women's, faith-based, student, disability, civil rights and social justice organizations including NJ Citizen Action, AARP-NJ, CWA NJ, the Hispanic Directors Association, the NJ State Conference of the NAACP, NJ Appleseed Public Interest Law Center, NJ Catholic Conference, the Mental Health Association of NJ, Alliance for Disabled in Action, Health Professionals and Allied Employees, Camden Churches Organized for People, the Statewide Parent Advocacy Network, the Workmen's Circle/Arbeter Ring, the Lutheran Office of Governmental Ministries, NJ PIRG, BlueWaveNJ, the NJ Elder Rights Alliance, Health Care for All/NJ, and the Gray Panthers of South Jersey.

The NJ for Health Care Campaign is working to find a long-term solution to the health care crisis facing NJ and the nation that incorporates five core health care reform principles:

Support for the NJ for Health Care Campaign is provided by the Consumer Voices for Coverage grant initiative, a project of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and Community Catalyst. Consumer Voices for Coverage supports state advocacy efforts by fostering strong and robust advocacy infrastructures. NJ is one of 12 states across the country selected to participate in this project providing technical and financial resources.

With this grant, the NJ for Health Care Campaign is expanding and strengthening health care reform efforts at the both the state and national level. "We believe our efforts to build a sustainable consumer advocacy system in New Jersey will lead to major improvements in expanding access to affordable and quality health care to our state's 1.3 million uninsured residents," said Weissman.
