Volunteer Opportunity
Application for Internships / College Volunteers
NJCA is the state's largest citizen watchdog organization, representing 60,000 family members and over 100 affiliated labor, tenant, religious, senior and community organizations on critical social issues. Our advocacy, research and organizing work focuses on the needs of working families and seniors, including quality health care and family issues, environmental justice, campaign finance reform, fair banking and housing, and lower utility rates. Please review NJCA's Website, which covers these campaigns in detail, prior to completing this application.

About Your Interests
1. Why are you interested in learning community organizing skills? What do you most hope to get out of an internship experience?
2. What previous social justice/organizing efforts have you been involved in, either as a volunteer or paid (on campus or off)?
3. Thinking of your previous experiences, describe one particular thing that you did. Explain why you either felt great satisfaction in the experience, or did not feel satisfied.
4. What are your career goals? (You may be able to name a specific job or field, or what kind of skills you want to be using, or what your broad goals are. We are looking for your ideas about your future, not necessarily a clear five-year career path. We certainly didn't have one at your age.)
5. Do you speak or write any languages other than English? If so, which ones, and how well?
6. NJCA works on many issues. Which do you prefer to work on? Why? Are there any you would be unwilling to work on? If so, why?
7. Is there anything else you would like us to know about you?
