NORTH JERSEY REGIONAL ORGANIZER/ACTIVIST WANTED —
Bi-Lingual in English and Spanish
New Jersey Citizen Action, the state's largest citizen watchdog coalition, with 60,000 family members and 100 affiliate organizations, is accepting applications for an immediate opening on our organizing staff. In this position Organizers, working under the supervision of NJCA's Director of Organizing and Advocacy:
- Organize low and moderate-income citizens, current members, affiliated organizations, and allies, on issue-based advocacy campaigns including health care, housing, taxation and fiscal policies, election reform, utility rates, civic and electoral campaigns, social and economic justice.
- Staff NJCA's new Consumer Health Helpline that directs consumers to services and assistance related to public and private health care programs. Collect consumer health care personal stories as part of our health reform campaign and advocate for health care change at the local, state and national level.
- Implement outreach and communication campaigns, including the development of flyers, talking points, media releases and opinion editorials. Represents NJCA at public events.
- Assists in the overall operations of the program and the organization.

Qualifications include: Minimum of two years' experience in community, student, labor, tenant, church, and/or political organizing; excellent writing, computer, and telephone skills required; Car, license and insurance required. Bi-lingual in English and Spanish.
Location: Newark, NJ.
