North Jersey Regional Organizer
New Jersey Citizen Action, the state's largest citizen watchdog coalition, with 60,000 family members and 100 affiliate organizations, is accepting applications for our organizing staff. NJCA has immediate openings for a North Jersey Regional Organizer. Staff in this position:
- Organize low- and moderate-income citizens, members, affiliated organizations, and allies, in issue-based campaigns for social and economic justice.
- Formulate and execute strategy and tactics with guidance from Executive Program and Political Directors and a committee of NJCA Board members and affiliated groups.
- Develop expertise on multiple issues; research and produce materials.
- Maintain relationship with press and represent NJCA at public events.
- Assist in the overall operations of the program and the organization.
The Regional Organizer is a multi-issue position, covering the campaigns NJCA works on, including but not limited to: campaign finance reform, telecommunication and energy prices, quality health care for all, fair banking and community reinvestment, affordable insurance rates, lead poisoning prevention, social and health security, a safe environment, and the rights of workers, victims, and consumers. Additionally, organizers engage in voter registration drives and electoral work.
Qualifications Include:
- Minimum of two years' experience in community, student, labor, tenant, church, and/or political organizing.
- Excellent writing, computer, and telephone skills.
- Car, license and insurance required.
The North Jersey Position will be based in NJCA's Newark office. Bilingual in English and Spanish a plus.
