“New Jersey Citizen Action applauds Congressman Pallone for championing legislation that will give federal agencies more tools to crack down on companies using artificial intelligence and robocalls to defraud, cause harm, or steal from consumers,” said Beverly Brown Ruggia, Financial Justice Director for New Jersey Citizen Action. “The rapid expansion of telecommunications-related technology, especially artificial intelligence, has made consumers even more vulnerable to an inundation of unwanted, confusing and potentially abusive telemarketing calls and text messages that they can't distinguish from legitimate calls and messages. We urge Congress to stand with Congressman Pallone in support of the Do Not Disturb Act, which updates and strengthens the Telephone Consumer Protection Act.”
