Christ HospitalIn response to the proposed sale of Christ Hospital to a for profit company, New Jersey Citizen Action (NJCA) has launched a petition drive to protect the mission of the community hospital. The people of Jersey City need to know that Christ Hospital, its services, and health care providers will always be here for Jersey City families

NJCA canvassers are talking to Jersey City families about the sale of Christ Hospital, a hospital that's been a pillar of the community for nearly 140 years. We need to make sure decisions are made with the input of residents instead of behind closed doors.

Christ Hospital's CEO, Peter A. Kelly, plans to sell the hospital to Prime Healthcare, a California for-profit hospital chain that is currently under investigation for questionable patient care and billing practices. California Congressmen Pete Stark and Henry Waxman have asked the Inspector General of the Federal Health and Human Services Department to investigate, and California State Senator Elaine Alquist has asked the California Department of Public Health to conduct an investigation and withhold approval of any new licenses for Prime until all investigations are complete.
