TEANECK — The principals of a Democratic Congressional primary that has attracted national attention will meet publicly at a forum co-sponsored by Bergen Grassroots and the Ethical Culture Society of Bergen County on May 23 beginning at 7:30 p.m. in the Ethical Culture meeting hall, 687 Larch Ave., Teaneck.

The 9th Congressional District primary pitting incumbents Bill Pascrell Jr. and Steve Rothman will be resolved 13 days later on June 5, when the voters will select one of them to represent the Democrats in a district that has been traditionally safe for the party for some time.

Bergen Grassroots is a group of political activists who advocate government reform.

"Because it is anticipated that many will want to see and hear the exchange of ideas and space is limited in our meeting hall," said Jason Snyder, of Englewood, a member of the group's steering committee.

To make a reservation at any time, call 201-692-9600 or write to paul@bergengrassroots.org.

According to Paul Eisenman, of Cliffside Park and chairman of the reform group, the forum will be conducted according to guidelines developed by the NJ Citizen Action Education Fund.

Virtually the same format was used for the 9th Congressional District Democratic nomination forum in April — the exception is that this time, questions from the audience will be written and submitted for consideration by the steering committee.
