During Women's History Month, the county presented Althea Gibson Spirit Awards to County Prosecutor Paula Dow, Division of Senior Services Director Jaklin DeVore and county Freeholder Carol Clark, The Board of Chosen Freeholders in collaboration with the Register of Deeds and Mortgages honored four women: Julia Highsmith Lloyd of Newark, a 100-year-old, for her community service; Phyllis Salowe-Kaye of West Orange, a community and consumer activist (executive director of New Jersey Citizen Action); Katherine B. Slattery of Caldwell, a councilwoman in the borough; and Laura Trimmings of East Orange, principal of Cicely Tyson School of Performing and Fine Arts in East Orange.......
