Montclair Fund For Women Awards Grants To Area Nonprofit Organizations

The Montclair Fund for Women recently awarded grants totaling $85,500 to 12 area nonprofit organizations.

Executive Director Lori Heninger said, "The Montclair Fund for Women is honored to be able to support the ongoing work of service organizations in Montclair and beyond, who are committed to ensuring girls and women in our community not only survive, but live their best lives." Grants to organizations based in Montclair include:

Human Needs Food Pantry: $5,000 to support six months of grocery purchases specifically for infants and children.

Interfaith Hospitality Network: $10,000 to support the Home for Good Program, providing case management for families in transition to permanent housing, as well as the after school program, focusing on educational enrichment.

Jazz House Kids: $10,000 to support CHiCA Power, jazz education workshops and performances for girls.

Montclair Alumnae Chapter, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.: $5,000 to support the Betty Shabazz Delta Academy, providing academic enrichment in science, math and technology to middle school girls of color.

National Council of Negro Women: $3,000 for their support group for grandparents and Kinship Caregivers.

Partners for Women and Justice: $5,000 to support legislative and judicial advocacy for women impacted by domestic violence in New Jersey.

The Side Door at Union Congregational Church: $8,000 to support the Friday after school drop-in program for Montclair middle-school students.

Succeed2gether: $12,500 to support the development of a program to provide middle- and high-school girls of color with one-on-one services to insure their passage to college and beyond.

Grants to other area groups include:

Independence: A Family of Services (Newark): $10,000 to support the Sankofa Literacy Program and general operating support for the East Orange Family Success Center.

New Jersey Citizen Action Education Fund, Inc. (Newark): $5,000 to support economic empowerment workshops in Montclair.

Volunteer Lawyers for Justice (Newark): $5,000 to support the Trafficking Victims Legal Assistance Program.

YWCA of Union County (Elizabeth): $7,000 to support legal advocacy for women impacted by domestic violence.
