Activists

Gathering for a protest of President George Bush's veto of the SCHIP bill in front of Congressman Michael Ferguson's Warren Township office on Thursday morning were, from left, Richard Del Nero of Scotch Plains, a member of the Union County Peace Council, Ladonna Blount, a member of NJ Citizen Action and the organizer of the event, Diane Beeney of Westfield, chair person of the Union County Peace Council, Meara Nigro of Berkeley Heights and Roberta Krumholz of Warren Township. Ms. Krumholz said when she received the action advisory, less than an hour before the event was to start, she was getting ready for an 11:30 a.m. appointment in Short Hills. Even so, she stopped by the protest just to lend her support because "I am in complete disbelief that he would veto this bill that impacts young children." The congressman was in Washington D.C.
