A workshop at the George Street Co-op and Namaste Cafe on Saturday will address the affordability of health care, particularly as it pertains to children.

Among the topics to be addressed at the workshop, which will be presented at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m., will be what in fact defines truly affordable health care for New Jersey families and communities, said said Jim Walsh, the program director at New Jersey Citizen Action and a co-op board member. Walsh will be leading the workshops.

Attendees will also learn about health-care reform measures being proposed in New Jersey and nationally.

Participants will have an opportunity to fill out a worksheet asking what they spend on health care compared to their other expenses and incomes. Those findings will be added to results from similar surveys and compiled as part of a report that will be made public and presented to state legislators later this year, Walsh said.

The co-op and cafe are at 89 Morris St., just off Livingston Avenue.

Those wishing to attend the workshop are asked to register by visiting the co-op, calling 732-246-4772, Ext. 14, or e-mailing Walsh at jimrwalsh@gmail.com.
