Letters to the Editor

For decades, Americans have waited for health-care reform that would lower costs, offer more choices, provide quality care, and ensure peace of mind for families across the country.

This week, after years of struggling to keep up with skyrocketing premiums and out-of- pocket costs, we are at last closer to realizing health-care reform that makes health care more affordable for everyone, allows people to keep their current coverage, makes private insurers accountable for treating consumers fairly plans, and provides consumers with more choices, including a national public health insurance option.

The health-care reform legislation in the House shows that Congress recognizes the urgency of addressing the needs of average constituents and that there are leaders like Reps. Rob Andrews, Rush Holt, Frank Pallone, Bill Pascrell and Donald Payne who have stepped up to support the kind of reform that will secure a healthy future for the people of New Jersey.

Reps. Andrews, Holt, Pallone, Pascrell, Payne and their colleagues in the House should be encouraged in their efforts to pass this legislation. Because of the leadership shown by our New Jersey representatives and their colleagues in Congress, we, at last, have reason to hope that good health, security, and peace of mind are within reach for average families like yours and mine.
