Letters to the Editor

It is time to get the health care reform bill fixed and passed. Please ask your senators and representative to negotiate a "fix" for the Senate bill. It can then go to the House for a vote. It is important that the cost controls in the House bill get included in the final bill, particularly the creation of an optional public insurance plan for people who cannot afford to purchase comprehensive health care from insurance companies.

This will not only provide health care for many more Americans, but it has been shown it would slow the rising cost of insurance premiums and health care. Not enacting reform now would be disastrous for the economy.

The Republican refusal to negotiate substantial reform for our totally broken system and its runaway costs is a tragic example of dysfunctional party politics.

If you would like fair and bi-partisan information on the reform bills, go to healthreform.kff.org. When people learn the facts, they say they support the reform.

We cannot wait. We have waited far too long already.
