Honk For Health Care

Mt. Laurel Sun — Tuesday, January 18, 2011

About 20 dedicated residents, activists and neighbors braved the persistent rain, cold temperatures and slushy streets this afternoon to rally at Congressman Jon Runyan's Mt. Laurel office at 4167 Church St. to urge the freshman Republican to vote against repealing President Obama's historic health care law. The House of Representatives is expected to vote on the bill tomorrow, Jan. 19.

Members of the groups New Jersey Citizen Action, South Jersey Grassroots4Change, the NJ Main Street Alliance and NJ for Health Care showed up to deliver a letter asking the congressman to start his new political career off by standing up for families in his Third Congressional District. Individuals rallied with signs in front of Runyan's office, which attracted car honks and attention from motorists on Church Street.

Officials from Runyan's office accepted the letter and told those present that it would get to the congressman. They also gave an opportunity for the district's constituents to voice their concerns and comments.
