Local Grass Root Groups To Protest Lance Health Care Vote Friday Morning

Hunterdon Review — March 9, 2017

New Jersey Citizen Action will join with local constituents from the 7th Congressional District of Rep. Leonard Lance, R-7, at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, March 10, to express their extreme disappointment with his vote to advance the Republican replacement health care bill at the congressman's 425 North Avenue East office in Westfield, and his 361 Route 31 South office in Raritan Township.

Hundreds of Lance's constituents have been gathering weekly at his district offices and thousands attended town halls to urge him to vote NO on the replacement bill. Instead, after 27 hours of debate, Lance joined with other Republicans on the Energy and Commerce Committee to advance the measure today putting it one step closer to passage.

"New Jersey Citizen Action is deeply disappointed in Congressman Leonard Lance who voted for a bill that breaks every promise Republicans have made to lower cost and ensure that those who have coverage will keep it," Maura Collinsgru, health care program director for New Jersey Citizen Action, said. "This bill undermines both the coverage expansions and protections millions of consumers now have under the ACA."
