The Star-Ledger — Thursday, September 17, 2009

By Chanta Jackson

New Jersey Citizen Action will bring together hundreds of women in Newark on Saturday from 2 to 4 p.m. to salute women who have achieved home ownership through their program "A Home of Her Own: Women's Housing Initiative" program and to encourage others to become first-time homeowners.

The event will take place at Essex County College, 303 University Ave. Speakers will include those who have had success in the program, as well as those who can talk about the credit process and other housing-related issues. As a HUD-designated fair housing agency, New Jersey Citizen Action will explain fair housing rights of homebuyers and talk to participants about how to avoid predatory mortgage lending fraud.
